Grooveline Horns & Zach Balch are the musical guests. The program includes performances by bands and candid interviews with Rosa Guerrero and award-winning record producer, Dan Workman. Community guest and ‘audience of one’ is Keaton Branch, contributor to the blog AudioADD.net. The Grooveline Horns are an internationally known three-man horn section including Carlos Sosa (sax), Fernando Castillo (trumpet) and Reggie Watkins (trombone). The band has won several accolades including the 2005 Latin Grammy Winner with La Mafia Best Groupera Album, Austin Chronicle Reader’s Poll Best Horn Section seven times and has played with everyone from Jason Mraz, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews to Ozomatli and The Meters. Zach Balch is a singer/songwriter from Levelland who admits, “If West Texas is in your blood, songwriting arrives like rows of cotton and Bible-belt Choruses”. Born on Elvis’ 50th, a graduate of Buddy Holly’s alma mater, and the grandson of a lifelong pianist and music educator, Zach’s training includes South Plains College where he studied guitar, and a short stay in the Jazz Program at the University of North Texas, where he was a vocal major.

Fire is the third song from Eatliz new EP, after 2 songs that have been released for free download exclusively for the bands loyal fans.
Fire is accompanied by a unconventional clip; it is filmed on a street in an industrial area of south Tel Aviv, while the sound was recorded in real time as the band was playing live (the sound was not put on the video in a studio). Most rehearsal studios are concentrated in this industrial area, one who passes by this area in the late afternoon will hear the music echoing from all these studios. Eatliz had decided to use this effect and enhance the sound that drips out of these studios instead of using the isolation that is offered by the well equipped sound studios.

Alright, a lot more work went into this than you would think, but I guess it’s a good thing that you can’t tell just how difficult it was to create.

I feel I’ve done about as good of a job as I could to edit it together in such a way that the audio approximately matches the video.

The studio recording of Free Bird (extended ending of course) has here been overlaid atop a heavily edited version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s 1974 Hamburg (Germany) show.

Please understand this WAS NOT EASY. The video here bares little resemblance to the original footage I used (it is presented in a MUCH different order). Obviously it is impossible to get everything to line up perfectly. Throughout the verse I focused on getting Ronnie’s lips, Gary’s slide, and Allen’s chords in sync. Throughout the solo I focused only on Allen’s playing, Gary’s chords, and Bob’s drums.

If you have not seen the original recording of the 1974 Hamburg show, I urge that you PLEASE go watch it BEFORE watching this one, so you can appreciate how much editing this required!

The tempo through the verse was SLOWER than studio recording, and the tempo of the solo was FASTER than the studio recording.

It was a challenge to say the least!
