As far as software - FL studio is pretty good for people starting up, Ableton Live is also widely used, Reason, Cubase are also good. Don't look into amps in the beggining, just get really high quality studio headphones. To start up get a powerful computer a good program like FL Studio and a pair of high quality headphones/studio monitors. Add hardware as you go along and understand your needs better, but the above 3 you will need no matter what. I would advise againt making exprensive hardware purchases like synthesizer, mixers in the beggining, because everyone has different needs. I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but when you try to save money you're only hurting yourself.
