what will an aspiring musician need for a studio as far as equipment, computer software & the best computer?

My fiancee and son are building a recording studio. I want the best equipment but reasonably priced for recording, such as software for making loops etc. The best computer that can hold the graphics and sounds as well as good amps, keyboarding, microphones etc.

Thanks so much for your help in this matter.

Also I am learning to play lead and bass guitar.

Computer – home studios usually opt for high end macs, because of their audio drivers and general reliability. As far as software – FL studio is pretty good for people starting up, Ableton Live is also widely used, Reason, Cubase are also good. Don’t look into amps in the beggining, just get really high quality studio headphones. To start up get a powerful computer a good program like FL Studio and a pair of high quality headphones/studio monitors. Add hardware as you go along and understand your needs better, but the above 3 you will need no matter what.

I would advise againt making exprensive hardware purchases like synthesizer, mixers in the beggining, because everyone has different needs. I know it’s probably not what you want to hear, but when you try to save money you’re only hurting yourself. You want to find someone who really knows their stuff in a music store and ask then and you can actually feel and hear the equipment before you make the decision to buy.

  1. Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine have unveiled plans to release an exclusive line of HP laptop computers.

The HP ENVY 15 Beats limited edition notebook PC is the latest inHP’s ENVY line. Iovine and the good Doc (who calls the laptop "the newstereo") is apparently trying to give Steve Jobs aheart attack with its features: Mixing software from NativeInstruments’ Traktor LE, black high-gloss finish, and Dr. Dre’sheadphones thrown in as well. It retails for $2,299.
