http://www.MixMyMusic.net – Curious how they did it? Butch Vig deconstructs Nirvana’s song “Something In The Way”. Awesome video of him behind the console in the studio soloing out sections of the song and talking about how they made the record. This is probably my favorite clip yet.     yeah, It kind of looks like the neve VR. But you should see the board they recorded on at sound city studios in LA, unreal. Just rows and rows of 1081 modules.

    well the actuall cd you burn onto shouldent make much differance to the recording as long as you get the correct sample rate but burnt cd’s only have a short life expencity maybe 2-3 years professinaly mastered cd’s are actully pressed at like 1000 at a time. it really depends what u intend to do with a recording

    The cheap and expensive cd’s all have the same quality for bit rates and sample rates. The difference is that the expensive ones last longer in storage (Selenium added to the coating) and the expensive ones are less likely to have errors while you are burning onto them.

    when you record you often have 24 bit.
    A cd have 16 and you often record with 96000 sample rate but a cd only have 44100

    i got a question…when all the mixing and mastering is done and what not…does the cd u burn ur music on have any effect on the quality?..or can i burn on to any type of cd, cuz i saw some “professional” CD-R’s goin for like $30 ..but at biglots i can get them for like $10 bucks lol..jus wondering

    Butch Vig is my hero. He could take good songs and end up making them absolutly amazing. Nevermind was amazing because vig was able to get kurt to do so many guitar and vocal parts. not metioning the overdubs. some records are over or under produced. this record was perfectly made.

    And I bet it really was hard to record, coz its such and AMAZING song.

    i found this dvd well informative.. Butch gives a run down of all the tracks and information on how they’re made. Alas Kurt is gone but but he’l live on in his music and thanks to mr vig and dvd’ like this we all can get a little closer to the one person we all here admire but will never meet.. 5* all the way.
