What should I name my Photography studio?

Do you think using my name (Jane Doe Photography) or using a catchy name is better for business? I was leaning toward using my name in the title, but it’s likely that I’d get married within the first few years of business and change my name (and my name is already too long to hyphenate it).

What suggestions for names do you have for a portrait photography studio? I don’t like anything too precious or cheesy. Thanks!

After your great grandmother. Or things which inspire you.

I think you choose something that reflects who you are, what you are shooting.

Practically speaking, using your name, will direct potential customers directly to Your site, and "name" sites are the Most Common. When you do marry, you know, you don’t actually Have to change the site or business name. If you’ve been in business for a while, people will be accustomed to your original name as the title for your studio.

I feel your pain for Jane Doolitarsky to morph to Jane Doolitasrsky-Von der Graff Rabinnokowsky Murphy; the printing costs alone, would bankrupt you :)

If you feel a concept name would help you stand out, rather than a personal name, you could consider something like "Latent Image Photography" (which I like), " Personal Image Photography," or "Inner Image Photography." As you can see, I’m big on "Image" :)

You’re taking the first steps, toward being able to buy that personal island in the Bahamas.

  6. I am having the same problem. Starting a new studio and I am getting married next year. My first name is spelled totally different then it sounds and I don’t want to use my last name. Some that I have seen on here has been as follows:

THE DARKROOM.. (I THOUGHT IT WAS CUTE)
    FAST FOCUS
    YOU’VE BEEN FRAMED (CUTE)
LET ME SHOOT YOU (HA HA HA)
    JUST BEEN SHOT!
    THROUGH MY EYES
    JUST YOU PHOTOGRAPHY

I think I am going to go with STUDIO _______ not sure what the rest of it will be…but good luck with everything!

the first answer was stupid. the one about monroe was even worse. These are the worst batch of answers I have read in a long time. All of these people are idiots and should be locked in tinny little boxes for like a week at a time.
now that I got that out……..
    Don’t name it.
    how abou that.
    give it a number.
or the pi simbol! thats a good one. or like just the greater than sign >
    brilliant right?
everyone has what they think to be a clever name for their buisness. and alot of them are really dumb. like the coffee shop next to my house, it’s called pair-a-dice (and it even has a picture of dice in the background and palm trees.
it makes no damn sense. It’s not a pun. it’s not a play on words. it’s just one word that you messed up so you could include another nonrelated word inside the title of the coffe shop. It makes me so mad because of how stupid it is. NNNGUH!
anyway as I was saying…… don’t try and think of something clever at frist, let it come to you eventually.
Or come up with some gimmik (SP) ha where u like shoot in a bikini or something.
(another coffe shop by me does this)
[they're prostitutes] it was the news no joke.

    And im spent.
