What lighting can I get away with for an in home photography studio?

May 222010

I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures and I’m pretty good at it. I was thinking of setting up a room in my home as a little studio. I don’t want to go w/ anything expensive right now but I’d like to know about what lighting I can get to take professional looking pictures. Do I HAVE to get these particular lighting at a photography store or can I use something else. What type of bulbs would be good to use? Thanks!

If you want to go cheap, you can just use regular lamps. What matters is where you put them, and having enough to produce the amount of light YOU want. I use the lamp from my living room and take the shade off. Bulbs don’t really matter either as long as your white balance is set correctly and you’re using the same kind of bulb in each lamp.
