You need lots of … You need lots of light to get a perfectly white background, without it you start to see greys appearing on the white background. Maybe he’s shooting ISO 50 and F9 or something, that requires some power on background that big, this is big enough to put a large group of people on getting them from head to toe and then some!
Thanks for showing … Thanks for showing what the background was made of, I would have thought it was the seamless paper background instead of Vinyl. SMART! Also great showing what was behind your black baffle with the lights up high behind it. Keep em coming!
Hi guys, I love the … Hi guys, I love the comments.
I should have pointed out that we’re usually not using the packs turned up all the way, more like 1/2 power or so. But if we widen the sweep for 30+ people or have kids running around all the power gets utilized for max depth of field.
Yep, the lighting is flat, very purposely. It’s just a big white box for people and kids to move around in. This is a universal solution to fit a number of needs. Specific looks and needs get a much more deliberate lighting setup.
Gee.. All that … Gee.. All that power and all that fun stuff and showing off fancy toys but yet your lighting is so so so “Flat!” 6,000 watts on digital?? You dont need that much power… Maybe 6 heads but not 6,000 watts.. for flat lit portraits.. Way over kill.

If he used something other than Norman he’d only need a 2000 or 2400 watt-second pack. -Signed a former Norman owner.
