What do I need to make a homemade music studio?

I need to know everything I need to make a homemade music studio (in a bedroom). I know that I will need a microphone, but what microphone would be best? What type of recording equipment would be good to purchase? Any information that can be provided, would greatly be appreciated.

Don’t worry about the price, I’ve been through enough to know…"you get what you pay for"…and I want atleast decent quality in my recordings. It will mainly be used for vocal recording over instrumentals.

Thanks

microphone: Shure SM58 is the best vocal mic
mixer: this is what all your instruments plug in to
amplifier: takes the audio feed from the mixer and plays it out loud
a laptop with recording software installed: the best is Pro Tools, but even the basic package for that costs £200
that’s the basics, son

  2. Whats more important then all those things you are talking about is acoustics in the studio. I’ve heard that people use egg cartons, but there is other ways to form a solid acoustic room. With a better acoustic room you will be able to record on a crappier mic better then on the best mic out there and etc.
