How do I create a sound proof room for a home studio?

My friend has a 2nd bedroom that she wants to make into a home studio for her band. I am looking for responses that address what she can do structurally to this room to make it sound proof and to improve its overall acoustics. Any commentary on structural materials and how to work w/ them would be appreciated!

depends on how much you wanna spend, you can use egg crate foam or if you wanna go the expensive route owens corning makes a special insulation designed for acoustical setting ie sound rooms then you put an acoustical texture on your walls
