How much does the average dance studio pay in utilities for a month?

March 102010

I’m doing a business project and we couldn’t get a hold of a dance studio owner. We need the price of monthly electricity bills and any other variable costs that you think we should include. Thank you!

That is very hard to say because it would vary from state to state.

You could call your local electric company and ask for statistics.

Where can I get specialist furniture for a studio apartment?

March 82010

Posted in studio | 3 Comments »

I am buying a diddy little studio apartment. Do any of you know where I can buy specialist furniture for a small furniture, and places that are good for fitting kitchens and bathrooms for midgets in studios? :)

Same places that fit out static caravans/log cabin type holiday homes.

What are the steps to starting a home studio?

March 62010

Posted in studio | 3 Comments »

I’m clueless about what kind of software, computer, microphones, and whatever else you need to start a basic recording studio that will do the job. I’ve been in a friends studio and recorded a couple of times and know how to do the basic things, but no idea what to buy or where to start.

Ok so this is how I built my unprofessional home studio.

I started by buying an audio interface (sound card), to connect the microphone to the computer through that. There are some USB microphones that you can connect to the computer directly. But you would need a sound card. Generally, the more GB you have on the computer, and the faster your computer is, the better for recording, because recording music takes up a lot of energy and space. I used Cubase, but there are plenty of easier and more basic things out there like Audacity. If you plan on recording your voice, a condenser microphone would be your best option. There are microphones ideal for instruments, others ideal for singing, so you have a lot of options there. To make the recording quality better, I also used a pop filter in front of the mic, it makes it sound more smooth.

But basically all I bought was:

- a sound card (it was a package that came with Cubase and other software)
- a microphone
- a microphone stand
- a pop filter

And I started to record. There are certain things you can learn about what kinds of rooms are better to record in, to make the sound better, but I won’t go into too much detail there. hope this gave you an idea, but for further details, try researching this more on the internet.

Can images from anime studio 5 be transported to anime studio pro?

March 22010

Posted in studio | 1 Comment »

Thinking of purchasing anime studio pro and just want to know if all the work I’ve done on anime studio 5 can be carried over to the pro version. Thanks!

Yes, I think they can. I have the original, not pro, and I downloaded the trial of the pro, and I could open the files that I had made on the original and edit them with the pro tool set. If that’s what you want to do, then you can do it. Blame me if I’m wrong!

What is the difference between Studio monitors and normal speakers?

February 272010

Posted in studio | 5 Comments »

Ive heard sum pretty awesome sounding pc speakers( L+R+ Sub) and was wondering what the difference between them and studio monitors are?

Not much. The engineering is a little better and they are structurally better, but in my opinion, NOT worth the huge cost for the little gain in performance achieved. Buy what sounds the BEST to YOU, regard of any other factor. It is how it sound to YOU which is the ONLY deciding factor if money is no object, otherwise you buy the best sounding you can find within your budget.

How do I become a studio teacher in the entertainment industry?

February 252010

Posted in studio | 2 Comments »

I am currently a sophmore at college in Rhode Island. I am in the education program and recently found out about studio teaching. I am very interested in doing that but I am wondering how to get a job in that kind of teaching if I am going to have a RI teaching degree (a BA to start off with then I will get my masters after college and start work). any information from anyone that would really know about this would be appreciated. thanks.

I would suggest going over the SAG site and checking out their requirements. In order to become a studio teacher/tutor you would have to be hired by a production company or studio, or by an individual actor/model/singer/whatever. However, SAG has pretty specific rules in any state that has a large entertainment industry (NY, CA, etc.)
